PGA of Canada Master Professional Danny Jutras Inducted into the Sasketchewan Golf Hall of Fame:

A provincial champion in bantam, midget and juvenile, Jutras made the provincial junior team in 1961 and 1962 and elected to make a career of golf. He apprenticed in Lethbridge, before moving on to become an assistant at Cooke Municipal for three years.

Jutras moved on to become head professional at Woodlawn in Estevan, but was back in Prince Albert by 1975.

As a professional, he is renowned for building strong junior programs and has coached not only junior and amateur competitions, but also blind golfer Phil Lederhouse. Jutras was also instrumental in Prince Albert hosting three national events.

He became a PGA of Canada Master Professional in 2001 after his thesis Holistic Approach to Golf Course Management, which was presented to an International Conference of golf course superintendents.

Jutras served as president of the Saskatchewan zone from 1975-78 and held several other positions. He was presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.

Well-versed in turf management, he served on the board of directors of the Saskatchewan Turfgrass Association from 1992-96.

He was honoured as Prince Albert’s Sportsman of the Year in 1993.
